The Kwikwasutinuxw Haxwa’mis First Nations is one of nations that the salmon farming industry does not have an agreement with and yet 1/3 of the salmon farming industry is using their waters to raise Atlantic salmon.
“That’s been the long, sad history of the industry in our territory – a complete and utter disregard for First Nation title and rights” elected Chief Robert Chamberlin

Thank you! For reporting something not in line with your goals but indeed hard truths. First Nations are a vital part of our Canadian culture but even they should at times cede to the greater knowledge and good. Salmon stocks where nearly wiped out do to over fishing, the chinooks, pinks, chum, and even coho are showing great progress. Farmed salmon do not harm the wild fish, Sea lice I say again are not on farm salmon when placed into the ocean. They come from wild salmon, don’t believe me, look it up. Try not to go quitely into the oblivion of ignorance, fight and struggle for knowledge, I know you can!
Scott, the sea cages are an ‘unnatural’ breeding ground for the oft mentioned parasites and diseases, and they proliferate to numbers far too substantial in that uncontained container for ‘nature’ to handle. THAT’s the problem, along with the vast amount of ‘waste’ generated and merely dropped into Our Sea. Land tanks with the waste collected and treated may be the best solution. Take care.
